ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project „The World we W@nt“ deals with the issues connected with the global goals for sustainable development that the UN have identified as priorities for all people and our planet, in order to help build a better world for all, within the next 15 years. The purpose of this project is to help students understand the Goals, how they impact our own life and what we can do every day to help. We will discuss the issueas like ending poverty, hunger, achieve gender equality, ensure inclusive and quality education, ... altogether 17 goals. The project has the ambition to make students be more active and help the world be better. Students have exchanged their ideas and discussed the issues connected with the topic of SDGs and they are aimed at building the vision what should the right citizen of this planet do for its better future. There have been videoconferences aimed at the discussion about all issues of the project. Students also aim to discuss issues about SDGs today and tomorrow to make this world better.

AIMS OF THE PROJECT

The main goal of this project is to lead and motivate students to be global and active citizens of the world and to widen their horizons about the SDGs - by going through different issues connected with 17 golas, like ending poverty, hunger, achieving gender equality, ensuring inclusive and quality education, ..., thus making progress in mutual understanding of the vision of better world, its better present and future. The further goal of the project is that students can reflect on responsible, active world citizenship as an important competence in our fast-paced world. The project work leads students to better understanding of SDGs, desired activities towards making this world better. Students develop the abilities to recognize and understand relationships; the abilities to collectively develop and implement innovative actions that further sustainability at the local level; the abilities to learn from others; to understand and respect the needs, perspectives and actions of the sustainable development.

WORK PROCESS

Work process: September - introduction – countries, towns, schools, students. October – May - the partner schools work on the project. Students discuss different issues of the project – all 17 SDGs and discuss these topics: Do you feel responsible world citizen? What are SDGs? Can we do something with SDGs to make our world better? Students involved in the project go through all 17 goals, like ending poverty, hunger, achieving gender equality, ensuring inclusive and quality education, ... they do practical deeds connected with SDGs for better world. They  ake actions to make the world better, they cooperate with the UN and also have videoconferences about the discussed isuues, they use tools Web 2.0 in the project work, cooperate via forums and create a web page of the project. June – evaluation of the project. Students inform and present the results of the project to their schoolmates, parents, public and media to disseminate the project.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Better understanding of global and active world citizenship, motivation of students and widening their horizons about SDGs by going through different issues connected with this topic, thus making progress in mutual understanding of the vision of the better life in present and future. Work on the project  led to better understanding and widening students´ knowledge and practical experience about SDGs and development of right attitudes to become an active part of the world nowadays. Creating the webpage of the project and presenting the project to wider public: schoolmates, parents, people in the home town, other schools,...local newspapers and press belong also among expected results of our project.
